College/Department Information
The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at Augusta University is part of Enrollment and Student Affairs. We are dedicated to providing guidance and assistance for students to help ease the financial burdens associated with their education. We inform prospective and current students of the resources and services available to them to secure funds for financing their education. We advise students of their eligibility for financial assistance, assist with completing documents, and counsel students regarding their rights and responsibilities of receiving aid. Our goal is to help students and their families make the best use of financial aid resources so they may achieve their educational accomplishments.
Job Summary
The Financial Aid Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and administration regarding all aspects of Financial Aid for the purposes of recruiting new students and retaining current students. This position often serves as the initial point of contact for students to provide information and guidance concerning to students and families regarding the Financial Aid application and awarding process. This position must maintain confidentiality of information and possess general knowledge of financial aid as well as the campus and institution.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provides excellent customer services through in-person, phone, email, and text. Assist students and families with FAFSA submission and completion and submission of required documentation. Work with students to identify and mitigate circumstances that might hinder their academic progress. Respond to student inquiries and administer student outreach regarding outstanding or incomplete applications for aid. Also work with AU departments regarding admission, registration, academic advising and account payment regarding aid available for student. Counseling students and families regarding financial aid eligibility and renewal requirements. Counsel students how enrollment affects aid amount awarded and how withdrawing or not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) affects future aid eligibility. Advise students and families regarding non-aid options (i.e. payment plan, etc.) to pay institutional charges by payment deadline. Collect and maintain proper documentation for audits. Maintain professional currency through consistent professional development. Be willing to adjust regular work schedule to participate and represent financial aid department at on- of off-campus events not held during regular workdays or hours. Serve on various committees as needed. Assist and train other staff and perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization with two years of work experience in customer service
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Financial Aid or related field
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Demonstrated ability to interact positively with diverse populations of people with various backgrounds and interests; written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, ability to use computers and software (Word, Excel, Banner). Exemplary customer service skills. Knowledge of and ability to comply with Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) laws. Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality. Ability to prioritize tasks, detail oriented, and possession of a team work spirit.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday
Pay Grade: 9
Salary Minimum: $15.00 - Midpoint: $16.20
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
