Job Description

The Environment, Safety, and Health organization at Argonne National Laboratory is searching for a talented Safety Generalist.  The safety generalist functions as a member of the Laboratory deployed safety team with a primary assignment as Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) Coordinator for the Advanced Photon Source (APS) Engineering Support Division. ESH Coordinators act as a two-way conduit of information: communicate Laboratory health, safety and environmental requirements and programs to line management, researchers and workers in the deployed Division; communicate ideas for tailored execution of programs and area safety needs. Supports line management, researchers, and workers in providing effective implementation solutions, leading/participating in work planning activities, and serves as a local safety professional resource.  Actively contributes to a healthy safety culture that encourages openness and participation, rather than solely focusing on compliance.

Serves as an integral member of the deployed Division’s ESH/quality assurance team and in functional roles as assigned. Acts independently in day-to-day tasks.

  • Ability to provide timely and competent customer service.
  • Willingness to interact at the customer work location.
  • Ability to model Argonne’s core values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork
