Job Description

Summary

The Research Technician will conduct routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.

Job Duties

  • Conducts functional genomics experiments such as Hi-C and RNA-Seq carefully following established protocols.
  •  Maintains existing cell lines (experience in mammalian cell culture is essential) and manipulates according to established protocols.
  •  Helps to maintain a large biological specimens repository.
  •  Helps to organize and prepares documentation necessary for specimen accession, that includes national and international permits and associated documentation.
  •  Participates in maintaining day-to-day laboratory operation that includes ordering supplies, cleanup and maintenance of equipment.
  •  Assists with cell reprogramming protocol development.
  •  Assists with data analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in basic fundamental molecular biology techniques (such as gel electrophoresis, Western blotting, PCR, qPCR, molecular cloning) is essential.
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques is essential.
  • Experience in next generation sequencing library preparation; functional genomics (RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq).
  • Data analytic skills are desirable.
  • Experience in a research laboratory setting is strongly desired.
