The University of Utah School of Dentistry (UUSOD) seeks oral health clinicians with the skills and interest to educate and train an exceptionally talented group of students in a university environment. Faculty are hired at the instructor, assistant, associate or full professor rank. Rank is determined by the candidate’s experience and qualifications. In addition, the UUSOD has many opportunities for career advancement and leadership development. Compensation is based on the published ADEA compensation ranges, and we offer an excellent benefits package including immediate vesting of 20.2% (14.2% automatic, plus an additional 6% contingent on the UUSOD’s annual renewal) to retirement with no match required, for all faculty that work more than 50% time. This position requires 40-100% FTE or 2–5-day commitment.

Qualified candidates should have a DDS or equivalent degree and be eligible for a dental license in Utah. Individuals with dental specialty training and board certification (and/or are eligible for board certification) are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities will include educating and mentoring students in the DDS program. Clinical training occurs within the School of Dentistry and its satellite community health clinics.

The school fosters a humanistic, evidence-based approach to education and patient care. We are looking for applicants who are committed to creating a humanistic environment; who will educate and mentor dental students to be technically proficient in all aspects of primary oral health care and can serve as role models for the compassionate and ethical care of patients. We also seek individuals whose drive and intellectual curiosity help advance research that leads to new therapeutics for oral health care. Finally, we seek applicants with insights and vision for partnering with other primary healthcare professionals to improve oral and overall health for patients.
