Responsibilities
The Zhao lab is looking for a Research Technician to perform routine laboratory procedures according to standardized protocols and report results. She/He receives detailed instructions on assignments and regular supervision. This position provides an excellent opportunity to learn mouse genetics and molecular techniques. It also allows the individual to gain experience in general lab management.

Responsibilities will include:
- Managing mouse colonies: updating strain database, setting up breeders and genotyping by PCRs
- Euthanizing animals and preparing tissue
- Making common buffer/solutions and maintaining lab stocks of chemicals
- Ordering reagents for the lab


Qualifications
Bachelors degree typically in one of the biological sciences, physics, or chemistry or equivalent years of professional, paid, relevant laboratory experience. Should be familiar with lab techniques. Apply developing knowledge to coordinate day-to-day work, complete a variety of detailed tasks and assignments. Basic knowledge of Internet software, order processing system, data base and Microsoft Office software. Must be detail oriented and work independently as well as a team player. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and protocols/procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to compute basic mathematical operations, i.e., rate, ratio, percent, molarity, and unit conversion. Ability to organize and perform precise and accurate work when dealing with samples and chemicals. Ability to speak effectively to present ideas and data analysis to supervisor, who will decide how to proceed. Suggest changes to experiments and procedures. Ability to exchange ideas and procedures with co-workers and other labs. OMRF has mandated the COVID-19 vaccine for all employees, excluding those with an approved medical or religious accommodation, as a condition of employment.
