Job Description

Job Summary: The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for supporting the university operations by managing computer system activities and processes in the Financial Services Department.
Duties & Essential Job Functions: 1. Optimizes functional/technical computer systems productivity and performance by acting as liaison between Financial Services Department and Information Systems Department.
2. Determines operational objectives by analyzing financial functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and needs.
3. Plans and implements system upgrades by analyzing system requirements; developing and coordinating schedules for upgrade testing and implementations; assessing, documenting, and integrating new upgrade functionality.
4. Improves systems by studying current practices; designing modifications; coordinating personnel activities with system functionality.
5. Recommends controls by writing improved procedures; managing system activities and processes; administering system security.
6. Defines project requirement by identifying project milestones, phases, and elements.
7. Monitors project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.
8. Prepares staff to use system by updating system protocols; providing user documentation; training users.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Accounting, or other applicable business major.
• 3 years’ experience in a related accounting/financial systems environment, including experience in project management.
Preferred Education & Experience: • Knowledge of and ability to implement and maintain PeopleSoft Financial systems.
• Knowledge of and ability to implement and maintain Jaggaer systems.
• Knowledge of and ability to implement and maintain Concur systems.
• Skill in effective written and verbal communication.
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training: • None.
Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training: • MBA, CPA or equivalent experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Knowledge of data analysis, data mining tools including data warehouse applications, MS Access, Advanced MS Excel, and other query and reporting tools.
• Skill in effective written and verbal communication.
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations): • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment: • Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
