Job DescriptionJob Summary
The Springer lab is looking for a Research Assistant whose job will be working on a team
project with a focus on assay development and execution. This will involve assisting with the
design and performance of laboratory experiments, techniques, and protocols to reach grant
The Research Assistant will perform cell culture; perform cellular
assays in bulk, 96-well format, and microfluidic platform; aid in imaging assay results; perform
routine molecular biology including, but not limited to, PCR, cloning, and gel electrophoresis;
collect and record experimental data, and update written protocols and methods based on
findings. This individual will regularly update the research team with experimental results; carry
out laboratory maintenance including cleaning equipment, ordering, and keeping an inventory of
laboratory samples. In the near term Research Assistant will be aiding with COVID testing and test development and should feel comfortable being trained to work with BSL2+ samples.
This individual will be working effectively within a culture inclusive of individuals with diverse backgrounds, styles, abilities, and motivations, and appreciate and leverage the capabilities, insights, and ideas of all individuals.
College background or equivalent work experience preferably in Biology or Chemistry or a related field.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Minimum of one year of previous general experience working in a basic science research
setting preferred, in particular, experience with molecular biology protocols.
Bachelor's degree in Biology or Chemistry or a closely related field preferred.
Work requires analytical skills to resolve complex problems.
Work requires excellent record-keeping, organizational, and communication skills.
