Job Summary

The Accounting Manager for Foundations reports to the AVP for Foundations & CFO AU Foundation. The Accounting Manager ensures the integrity of accounting information by supervising foundation accountant(s). This position must have full cycle accountant experience overseeing general ledger transactions, journal entries, accounts payable, reconciliations, financial statements, analysis and management reporting, audit coordination and preparation, and oversight of regulatory compliance documentation and reporting for outstanding tax-exempt bond issues for the subsidiary property related LLCs and AUREC. Supplemental analysis, and accounting projects will be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervise day-to-day transactional activity of subsidiary LLCs. Supervise day-to-day transactional activity for AUREC. Responsible for timely preparation of monthly financials for all subsidiary LLCs and AUREC presented to the AVP for Foundations & CFO AU Foundation for approval. Responsible for making recommendations to the CFO regarding daily accounting functions and implementation of new processes for efficiency and reporting.
  • Review and approve all required Statement of Financial Position reconciliations for the LLC entities and AUREC monthly to ensure timely closing.
  • Prepare or oversee any supplemental analysis, reporting, various accounting projects, and other duties as assigned.
  • Review all requested audit documentation regarding tax exempt bonds for the subsidiary LLCs. Review all requested audit documentation for AUREC. Coordinate with the Foundations AUF and Augusta University Real Estate Foundation (AUREF) Accounting Manger to respond to auditors' questions and additional requests to ensure timely completion and issuance of all audit reports.
  • Review Accounts Payable transactions daily ensure timely processing of payments weekly for the LLC entities and UREC. Review vendor master and 1099s prepared before issuance for LLC entities and AUREC.
  • Enter, review edit, and post new, renewal, and modified leases in LeaseCrunch software for AUREC in accordance with the GASB 87 Lease Standard. Review, export, upload, and post lease related journal entries from LeaseCrunch software. Coordinate with the AU Office of the Controller to match the deferred financing lease payables to the LLC entities lease receivables quarterly.
  • Review and Submit Bond Trustee transactions to ensure timely payment. Review and post entries to record all Bond Trustee activity timely. Review and approve all Trust Account Reconciliations.
  • Review and approve all Truist Bank Account reconciliations for the LLC entities and AUREC.
  • Review and post journal entries to record new capital assets and deprecation for the LLC entities and AUREC.
  • Review all LLC related Bond Trustee, and state and federal regulatory compliance reports and data to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
  • Review LLC and property related 990 schedules and coordinate with the Foundations Accounting Manager for the AUF and AUREF to ensure accurate and timely filling of 990 tax returns and other submissions required.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting and eight years of accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with accounting for property management.

Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge accounting software and/or Blackbaud Raiser's Edge donor software.

Experience with Non-Profit or foundation organizations.

Experience with accounting and/or compliance related to tax exempt bond issues and IRS form 990 reporting.

Extensive experience with spreadsheets, databases, data queries, and financial reporting.

CPA certificate

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Supervise Accountant IV

Competency and accuracy with accounting software

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

Ability to work independently to solve problems with minimal daily direction from CFO to accomplish objectives.

Shift/Salary/Benefits



Pay Grade: 23

Salary: $69,398 - $89,000

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Conditions of Employment
