BUSINESS OFFICE LEAD
Position Highlights:
The Business Office Lead position is responsible for overseeing the Financial Assistance Auditors, International Financial Counselor, Assistant Financial Counselors, and Funding Specialist within the Business Office Department. The position acts as a subject matter expert related to financial assistance provisioning, the self-pay international patient administrative approval process, the eligibility criteria for Social Security and Medicaid programs, as well as other aspects of financial counseling and billing. This position is responsible for providing coverage when team members are on PTO or extended leave. The lead position will act as the first level of escalation for patient concerns. An in-person or virtual meeting with the patient may be required. This position will perform random quality assurance audits for all Business Office team members to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assistance, including IRS 501r regulations
- Maintains current knowledge of Social Security and Medicaid eligibility criteria
- Maintains current process knowledge related to policies and procedures within other Revenue Cycle departments that impact the Business Office
- Provides first level of escalation for patient concerns which may require a phone conversation, in person discussion, or virtual visit with the patient to help resolve the concern.
- Provides coverage for the Assistant Financial Counselors as needed, including coming into the office as needed
- Performs random audits to ensure team members are remaining compliant with policies and procedures
- Provide feedback and education to team members
Minimum Requirement:
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years working in healthcare related field with; at least three (3) years focused on financial assistance provisioning, auditing, or Financial Counseling.
Preferred:
- Strongly prefer experience in auditing or accounting.
- Retention of educational based Revenue Cycle modules as verified by department competency requirements.
Education
- Associate’s Degree
- OR In lieu of an Associates Degree, a High School Diploma/GED and two (2) add'l years experience in a healthcare financial setting may be considered.
