Job Description

Summary

The pediatric electrophysiologist will staff the Arrhythmia and Pacing Service at Texas Children's Hospital. As part of this service, the electrophysiologist will be involved in management and care of all inpatients with arrhythmias and pacemakers. They will also staff inpatient consultations regarding arrhythmias. They will staff outpatient clinics where the evaluation and management of patients with arrhythmias and pacemakers is carried out. They will also be involved in the interpretation of hospital associated electrocardiograms, Holters, event monitors, and pacemaker evaluations. Lastly, the electrophysiologist will perform interventional electrophysiology studies and ablations as well as implant pacemakers and defibrillators when clinically indicated.

Job Duties

The Director will work with the Chief of Cardiology to develop and manage the overall strategic direction of the Pediatric Electrophysiology Program at Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine:

  • ensure that the Program makes a substantial contribution to education and mentorship, both locally and nationally.
  • ensure that The Program is at the forefront of clinical practice in terms of quality and innovation.
  • ensure that the scholarly output of the Program is increased.
  • provide a liaison role with both internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

This candidate could be hired at Associate Professor/Professor rank depending on experience and track record. Requirements include 3 years of fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiology and a 4th year of advanced training in Electrophysiology. The successful candidates must be Board certified or eligible in Pediatric Cardiology.
