General Job Description:
Lab Management: Establishes, implements, and monitors laboratory policies and procedures. Ensures lab operations are efficient, effective, and comply with established procedures.
General Job Duties:
• Provides technical lab support by performing complex laboratory- and research-related tasks, which support faculty and graduate students with research projects.
• Applies expert technical knowledge of equipment construction and troubleshooting, fabrication and machining, and other complex laboratory and/or other research methods and equipment functions.
• Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.
• Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions.
• Evaluates experiment results using statistical analysis.
• May instruct a laboratory academic section in research techniques, instruments, methods, and procedures.

Position Specific Description
The Edison Biotechnology Institute (EBI) is a research institute at Ohio University. Our investigators help to find new ways to diagnose and treat illness through research programs in growth disorders, diabetes, obesity, autoimmune diseases, inflammation, aging, infectious diseases and cancer.

The Lab Management Specialist works with the supervisor to assist with maintaining mouse colonies, performing and analyzing research related to funded grants, training and supervising undergraduate students and assisting with management of a research laboratory, all on a daily basis. Work requires exercising independent judgment and basic theoretical knowledge of the applicable science. This position will include limited training and guidance of entry-level laboratory personnel.
