Job Description
Summary
The Research Administration Associate will support the Compliance area of the Sponsored Programs Finance (SPF) Department. This role involvesfinancial analysis, database administration, queries and excel (pivot tables), reconciliations with payroll and investigations with payroll, and compliance.
This position is eligible for a future hybrid schedule.
Employees with CRA certification are eligible for certification pay.
Job Duties
- Perform audit of assigned systems, processes, operations, or tasks in order to evaluate and report on the adequacy, effectiveness, and comprehensiveness of compliance, accounting, management a particular control area of Grants and Contracts Accounting.
- Conduct compliance monitoring, risk assessments and educational interaction with assigned business units upon request.
- Assist management team with the implementation of federal, state, and private sponsored funding guidelines and regulations.
- Service Center Monitoring related to Accounting Operation.
- Review financial status of Service Centers and approve Uniform Guidance compliance.
- Provide assistance in developing and implementing alternate methods designed to promote compliance with current regulatory requirements.
- Assist with implementation of new or changed compliance requirements.
- Analyze data/reports from compliance monitoring activities to identify trends, issues, and risk areas.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and develop formal monitoring recommendations that are value-added and cost-effective.
- Assist in developing training materials
- Assist with external and internal annual compliance reviews.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Professional experience in Grant Administration (Pre and Post Award monitoring and review), finance, accounting, audit or related field.
- Advanced excel skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment effectively in decision-making process.
