What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking experienced R&D Mechanical Engineers to join our engineering project to help design, fabricate and assemble our mechanical systems, with growth opportunities into team leadership. Join us to develop creative solutions to unique national security challenges!

Our Remote Sensing Systems Group (RSS) Product Engineering Department addresses mechanical engineering challenges related to the development of the next generation Mobile Guardian Transporter (MGT) and a full range of remote sensing space system payloads for the Global Burst Detection (GBD) program. Both MGT and GBD projects are a high visibility, multi-year efforts going from concept development to fielded product, system assessment, and engineering updates.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Have oversight and contribution to mechanical design, component ordering and assembly, prototype assembly, hardware kitting, and assembly procedure documentation.
  • Utilize configuration management principles and tools to establish and maintain product definition.
  • Help in all phases of hardware development from concept development to detailed design through production and assembly and troubleshooting.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite greater than 50% the time.

Qualifications We Require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or in a related STEM Field plus 2 years’ relevant experience or master’s degree in state fields plus 1 year relevant experience.
  • Experience using CAD (Solidworks, Creo, etc.) to develop electrical, mechanical, or structural design concepts.
  • Experience creating design definition documentation utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance or equivalent.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent preferred.
  • Possess strong commitment to team environment dynamics with the ability to work as part of a team member as well as independently.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts with coworkers and coordinate activities with internal organizations in addition to external production facilities and suppliers.
  • Ability to design a product that can be effectively manufactured, inspected, and assembled.
  • Proven experience with PDMLink and PRIME.
  • Experience creating Mechanical Envelope (ME) drawings and other requirements documents.
  • Proven history of using analysis tools to evaluate design concepts.
  • Experience writing test plans and perform qualification testing.
  • Ability to set up and test complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions.
  • Understanding of part, material, and process assessments for customer deliverable hardware in harsh environments.
  • Familiarity with development of assembly procedures.
  • Experience working with production agency partners.
