As the Senior Manager of the Audit Advisory Services Group, you will:
Oversee and manage managers and members of the workforce within the group. Coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition and disciplinary actions. Ensure that customer needs are satisfied safely and securely, through managing and coordinating specific deliverables, overall program and project plans, budgets, structures, schedules, and staffing requirements. Balances the acquisition and development of manager and staff resources, capabilities, and existing and future projects or programs. Direct and coordinate the administration of audits and advisory services across complex and multi-disciplinary areas – working with stakeholders to design, manage, and execute a wide range of financial, technical, operational, safety and security assurance engagements. Engages with Sandia Lab leadership and external oversight, making technical and strategic recommendations that support risk and opportunity informed decision making. Advises senior leadership on quality assurance and technical policies and engineered controls and procedures. Interfaces with all components within the organization and with customers, suppliers, and oversight on audit issues and recommendations.Serve as the deputy to the Director as needed. Provide direct oversight and support on both the Internal Audit and Contract Audit programs, both of which require a level of independence and objectivity that the position will ensure is maintained. Responsible for assuring both programs remain compliant with all U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)/National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) guidance and regulations, as well as with all relevant laws and internal auditing standards.
Your primary duties may include:
- Foster and lead a work environment of high ethical standards that adheres to Sandia's values and complies with policies, procedures, laws, and regulations, and adheres to auditing standards promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
- Provide independent oversight and thought leadership for assurance disciplines ensuring that internal audit plans, frameworks, standards, and processes provide appropriate risk coverage across the Lab.
- Manage strategic initiatives and leads in the development and execution of risk-based audit plans, including assurance and advisory engagements to mitigate enterprise-wide risks and identify opportunities in support of achievement of Lab objectives.
- Connect the work and expertise of the organization with potential beneficiaries, collaborators, and stakeholders, including partnering with various assurance lines and assessment groups; work cross-functionally with Sandia management to ensure sustained operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Build and oversee a team of audit professionals with diverse subject matter expertise to evaluate and recommend improvements in technical audit areas involving financial and business operations, IT/cybersecurity, environmental, safety, health, and security.
- Proactively identify emerging risks and potential control deficiencies through ongoing risk assessments and monitoring activities.
- Interact with all levels of management, audit clients, and with DOE/NNSA officials on matters associated with assurance services to establish and improve collaborative stakeholder relationships.
- Apply mission knowledge and experience to independently and objectively assess work quality, performance, and alignment of results with customer expectations.
- Support the center director in crafting an organizational vision and objectives that are consistent with Sandia’s strategic plan and customer expectations.
- Counsel and assist employees and management on government legislation, U.S. Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) contract compliance, and Sandia policies or procedures to ensure compliance.
Salary Range:
$142,600 - $242,300
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience plus, (10) or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
- At least (5) years of managerial experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire:
- Broad and comprehensive experience in audit and assurance theory and principles with demonstrated experience performing internal audits, external audits, or applying audit, risk, quality, or compliance acumen in complex operational and regulatory environments.
- Demonstrated strong technical, project management, and communication skills necessary to navigate and evaluate technical processes and cultivate strong partnerships.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of effectively interacting with and presenting to senior leadership and oversight agencies.
- Highly motivated, results driven, and ability to juggle multiple priorities to completion.
- Demonstrated experience in highly dynamic environment undergoing change; ability to deal with competing priorities.
- Advanced knowledge of auditing processes/procedures data analysis tools and techniques.
- Knowledge and demonstrated characteristics of Sandia National Laboratories' Code of Conduct and expected corporate behaviors.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures and ability to interpret, implement, and recommend modifications to Sandia's Laboratory Policy System and to organization policies and processes.
- Professional experience and/or a master’s degree or higher in business, audit, accounting, information systems, risk management or related field.
- Professional certification such as in a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Cybersecurity Forensic Analyst Certification (CSFA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Control Specialist (CICS), ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS) Professional certification, Certified FISMA Compliance Practitioner (CFCP) certification or ability to obtain such certifications or similar technical certifications.

NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
