As a Dental Assistant, under the dentist's supervision you will be performing medical and administrative skills to dental staff and supporting patients. Your primary duties will include but are not limited to:
• Assisting with performing treatments and assessments to patients.
• Obtaining alginate impressions for diagnostic and intra-oral appliances.
• Maintaining a sterile environment and examination areas
• Keeping up with dental equipment and medical supplies stock, reordering, and troubleshooting.
• Performing Diagnostic Radiographs and speak to radiography technique.

• Has a state certification as a Dental Assistant Radiographer.
• Has a Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
• Can work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
- Assists with performing assessments and treatments.
- Performs diagnostic radiographs.
- Obtains alginate impressions for diagnostic and/or intra-oral appliances.
- Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned.
- Maintains dental equipment and medical supplies, including sterilizing instruments, reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting.
- Maintains examination areas.
- Works in clinical and operating room settings as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Knowledge and understanding of the dental management of medically compromised patients to include cardiology, oncology, hematology and infectious disease patients.
Certifications:
- Must be state certified as a Dental Assistant Radiographer.
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) must be obtained within one year of employment OR must hold a certification as a Certified Ohio Dental Assistant (CODA) administered by the Ohio Commission on Dental Assistant Certification (OCDAC).
- Specific certification required is dependent on assigned area.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Complexity of Work:
- Must have the ability to be compassionate to patients who are under physical or emotional stress.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful and fast paced environment.
WorkExperience:
- Up to two years of dental assisting experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to ambulate patients for x rays and to dental chair.
- Dexterity sufficient to operate CRT/PC and other office equipment.
- Ability to work while standing the majority of work day.
- Requires frequent data entry, lifting patients, pushing/pulling over 75 pounds, sitting, squatting, standing and walking.
- Must possess manual dexterity to pass instrumentation, hand mix impression material and stone / plaster, use applicator gun to express impression gun, trimming casts as well as operate PC.

- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
