ROLE SUMMARY

The Director, Internal Medicine, GMA (CV/EB) is an integral member of the Internal Medicine Global Medical Affairs Team. The Director combines the medical expertise and understanding of the patients’ and physicians’ point of view with that of the product/therapeutic area. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director, Internal Medicine, GMA (CV/EB) serves as the technical expert for the product and the therapeutic area and supports communication of emerging data to ensure appropriate product utilization. He/she provides support for the development of strategies for clinical research and data generation and is accountable for ensuring that medical plans supporting the product are successfully developed to achieve short- and long-term objectives in alignment with overall business goals. He/she partners with external experts to inform business planning and clinical development.

  • Engages on peer basis with medical directors of independent networks and other healthcare providing entities to develop mutually beneficial solutions enhancing patient care.

  • Supports development and execution of medical strategies for data generation efforts, publication planning, and advisory board implementation.

  • Ensures medical and scientific accuracy of manuscripts and abstracts/posters.

  • Provides medical support and input on labeling and regulatory interactions.

  • Supports activities related to safety evaluations and reporting requirements.

  • Evaluates and develops risk management strategies for assigned assets.

  • Supports/leads development of IIR global and regional strategies.

  • Supports/leads the Publication Subcommittee (PSC).

  • Supports/leads the Medical Subcommittee (MSC) consisting of cross-functional medical colleagues including Outcomes Research.

  • Supports the Product Benefit Risk Committee (P-BRC).

  • Leads/executes Medical Advisory Boards and provides medical expertise and support for commercial Advisory Boards.

  • Leads/executes medical education programs.

  • Provides medical support to country and region Medical Affairs organization.

  • Partners with clinical colleagues to inform and advise Pfizer’s medical and commercial activities by ensuring medical plans support short- and long-term objectives in alignment with overall business goals.

  • Supports development of strategies for clinical studies and trial execution as applicable.

  • Provide medical information on existing and emerging data in response to questions from internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provides medical knowledge and support for in-line Commercial Development activities including such activities as promotional message development & product training for the sales force.

  • Contributes to the development and presentation of medical operating plans.

  • Provides strategic medical oversight and collaborates with GMPE group on overall (planned and ad hoc) product maintenance and defense activities as well as HHA strategic initiatives for the Established brands.

  • Provides medical leadership on cross-functional Medical Evaluation Committee ensuring a comprehensive assessment of potential impact of amendments in product labeling and products discontinuations.

  • Provides medical assessment of critical medicines for the medically necessary and medically significant designations.

  • Partners with PGS, Communications and Medical Information on queries, press releases and letters involving supply interruption or out of stock situations for Establishes Brands.

  • Provides subject matter expertise and strategic leadership on reformulation efforts, abbreviated and supplemental submissions (aNDAs, sNDa, MMAs, aMMAs) and rapid response teams to assure appropriate support for Established Brands.

  • Provides medical input on regulatory, safety, legal and other internal product inquires.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop, and coach others, oversee, and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • MD or degree of equivalent level in relevant area of clinical/biological sciences with 3+ years industry experience.

  • Expertise in CV and anticoagulation is strongly preferred.

  • Experience within the pharmaceutical industry with clinical development or medical affairs experience is preferred.

  • Ability to objectively interpret and analyze medical and scientific data.

  • Ability to define and convey complex concepts.

  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Well-organized with the ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands.

  • Ability to effectively lead in a matrix organization.

  • Demonstrated track record of high performance and producing outstanding results.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel: approximately ~20%

  • Attendance of internal medical and commercial meetings, external scientific meetings, and interactions with external medical experts as necessary.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $213,500.00 to $355,800.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
